How bad is this gingivitis?

Periodontal hygienist says it is just gingivitis and not gum disease... Yet in spite of my good oral hygiene - brushing, interdental brushes, floss, mouthwash - it just isn't reducing the inflammation. I am pretty certain it is periodontal disease. Surely if it was just gingivitis it would have improved by now?
I have had gum problems since last Oct and they aren't getting better, in spite of a scale and polish. The periodontal hygienist said I don't need a deep clean apparently...

Are you suffering from acid reflux or post nasal drip from sinuses as they both can irritate gums and may present as gingivitis. May be your hygienist is correct and it is not periodontal and constant inflammation.
Try putting a bit of bonjela after your regular routine. And if you do have reflux/pnd then best to treat them.
