Very high GGT levels

Can anyone offer a word of advice on this?
I'm currently taking part in clinical trials and it involves a lot of regular blood testing etc
Just had a call from them and the latest test taken a few days ago has shown GGT levels of 339, usual is about 19 I believe?
I've had a look on google and it seems to be prevalent in alcoholics!
I had a few drinks over Christmas/new year, nothing crazy, just a couple of tipples of an evening
Should I be worried about this? They advised to contact doctor as they'll send reports to them and said they will advise further blood tests.
I'm flummoxed as otherwise fit and well! (Well not athlete fit but you know, ok)

It’s not just alcoholics though. Non alcoholic fatty liver disease can cause high GGT.

Interesting reading Thankyou!
I'm a little overweight, so I guess I could have a fatty liver!

If it has gone up suddenly it's more likely to be a reaction to whatever you are taking on a trial. Presumably the levels were normal when you started the trial? How long ago was that & what are you taking?

It's not flagged before and I've been on the trial for about 8 months.
It's for heartburn/indigestion medication.
