Would a physio be the best option?

Hi everyone,

I've got an issue with my ankle - it's prone to sprains and I've had a couple of nasty ones in the past. A few weeks ago I went over on it, no pain or swelling so assumed no sprain.

Since then I've had a popping sensation - you can hear a pop and it feels a bit like an elastic band being flicked against the back of the ankle. Still no swelling or problems walking, occasionally a tiny bit of stiffness or minor pain when I've done exercise or walked a long way, goes away after resting.

Google suggests this is a tendon issue - possibly a tendon falling out of place. It doesn't seem to be improving, I rested it for a week or so but then it's gone straight back to how it was.

I don't want to cause more damage - but I also don't want to take up drs time with something that doesn't seem that serious. Has anyone had similar and have any recommendations? And would this be something a physio might be able to look at or would they need imaging etc to diagnose what the problem is?

Just to clarify - I don't want to go into the hospital for imaging etc, I'm in London and the covid situation is pretty dire. I would pay for private physio if appropriate.

Physio would be a good place to start - and lots are doing online appointments at the moment. If you are with GP at Hand they have the option to book with physio, usually same day (and free!)

I'd see a physio for that

A physio will be able to help you. They're still allowed to do face-to-face appointments or you could do video if you prefer. I'm also in London and I see at Physio Ldn (they have a couple of cites around the City / Tower Bridge).
