Would a physio be the best option?

Hi everyone,

I've got an issue with my ankle - it's prone to sprains and I've had a couple of nasty ones in the past. A few weeks ago I went over on it, no pain or swelling so assumed no sprain.

Since then I've had a popping sensation - you can hear a pop and it feels a bit like an elastic band being flicked against the back of the ankle. Still no swelling or problems walking, occasionally a tiny bit of stiffness or minor pain when I've done exercise or walked a long way, goes away after resting.

Google suggests this is a tendon issue - possibly a tendon falling out of place. It doesn't seem to be improving, I rested it for a week or so but then it's gone straight back to how it was.

I don't want to cause more damage - but I also don't want to take up drs time with something that doesn't seem that serious. Has anyone had similar and have any recommendations? And would this be something a physio might be able to look at or would they need imaging etc to diagnose what the problem is?

Just to clarify - I don't want to go into the hospital for imaging etc, I'm in London and the covid situation is pretty dire. I would pay for private physio if appropriate.

Physio would be a good place to start - and lots are doing online appointments at the moment. If you are with GP at Hand they have the option to book with physio, usually same day (and free!)

A physio will be able to help you. They're still allowed to do face-to-face appointments or you could do video if you prefer. I'm also in London and I see at Physio Ldn (they have a couple of cites around the City / Tower Bridge).
