Colonoscopy - Entonox or Sedation

I have a colonoscopy at 1pm today and not sure if to have entonox or sedation?

Normally I'd go for sedation as I'm a total wuss but due to lockdown / covid etc my DH needs to drop me off and pick me up, and also pick up DD(4) at 3pm after school (I'm a key worker).

If I take sedation one person has told me it would be 1h for the procedure and an extra 30min recovery due to sedation. Another person has said 3.5h total if I have sedation... both people are in the Endoscopy dept at the hospital.

I don't know what to do :(

Take everything!
No, seriously everyone is different. My first attempt failed due to severe diverticular disease and the entenox didn’t touch it. I’ve since had a successful one (after being diagnosed with colon cancer which was found after a CT colonography) dont by my cancer surgeon who have me IV paracetamol and optimum sedation.
My husband had one and didn’t need anything. Said it was a piece of cake. Bastard!
Talk to them. Ask if sedation can be an option if you feel you need it.
Good luck x

Bit late, but just incase it's useful for others. But if you have sedation. Its the length of the procedure so aporox 10-15 mins. Then when you're full awake and have eaten you can leave.

I speak as somebody that's worked in the area. A colonoscopy never takes an hour.

The only delay is if the departments running late.
Actual procedure is over in no time.
