Should I worry if a mole gets darker?

I've had a mole on my chin I think since around my pregnancy 4 years ago.
I noticed over summer it got darker and it seemed to have stayed quite dark. Can this happen and not be anything sinister? I don't want to waste GP's time with current circumstances. First pic is when it first developed and second one is now. Thanks.

It should be checked, as colour changes are specifically mentioned on this page: www.nhs.uk/conditions/moles/

It should definitely be looked at by a doctor, you wouldn't be wasting their time.

I have had two moles removed after I spotted changes in them. They both turned out to be harmless but the doctor that I saw told me that any changes to a mole should be checked out.

Get it checked out any way. I had a couple of moles that got darker, including one that I had to get removed for a biopsy. Both turned out to be benign.

Get it checked. Even GPs themselves dont know sometimes, and will refer you on.

Hello

Yes, please do get this checked. But do not worry. Any changes in size, colour or shape should be checked and confirmed by a professional.

I experienced similar changes requiring a biopsy which confirmed dysplastic/atypical changes necessitating further excisions but ultimately treatable.

Best wishes xxx

That's the exact place where I had skin cancer. I had a huge amount cut out, but you can't see it now. Ask your GP for a referral to a dermatologist.
