Feel so dizzy

Really strange, since yesterday morning, I feel super dizzy
Woke up and the room was spinning like I was drunk (I'm not, and don't drink a lot anyways, nothing at all since Christmas)
All day yesterday I felt spaced out, almost like I'm walking on a boat, unsteady on my feet and queasy
This morning it's slightly better, but I still feel a bit dopey
Not taking any medication and normally fit and well, any ideas what on earth this could be?

A virus?

dingledongle · 10/01/2021 14:59

Labyrinthitis?

toomanyplants · 10/01/2021 15:02

I'm well otherwise, just so strange this feeling
I went in a cruise years ago and afterwards had something similar that I was unsteady on my feet for a couple of weeks afterwards
Don't want to bother the doctor but at the same time it's making me worried
Only way I can describe it is that I'm pissed but not had a drink

@dingledongle I've just looked up labyrinthitis! Never heard of it before!
100% don't feel safe to drive I can just about make a cup of tea

What happens when you shake your head?

Could be vertigo, labrynthitis, migraine prodrome, all sorts.

I get horrific migraine related vertigo (vestibular migraines), but have also had a bout of vertigo (no associated hearing issues) which prevented me from driving for a week or two.

dingledongle · 10/01/2021 15:08

I had it a couple of years ago and it is awful, woke up in night to go to loo and fell over Sad

Came on suddenly, have a google Wink

Bigpinkslippers · 10/01/2021 15:08

I get exactly this a couple of times a year, first attack came after a cruise too. I've been diagnosed with labyrinthitis and now have medication to take at the first sign of another bout.

toomanyplants · 10/01/2021 15:11

@SoddingWeddings when I shake my head it's a million times worse, I'd fall over if I was stood up, even scrolling on the phone makes me feel more spinning
How strange, I'm glad I'm not the only one to have had this!
I have had migraines in the past and they've started by vision going fluttery, but no headache at all
Oh Thankyou for commenting

Sounds like it could be some kind of ear issue (e.g. labyrinthitis), especially with you having had something similar after a cruise (motion). Contact your GP Thanks

SoddingWeddings · 11/01/2021 12:16

If it's worse for shaking your head, it could be inner ear related. Definitely contact the GP!

kissmelittleass · 11/01/2021 17:27

I feel like this a lot and it's put down to me having low blood pressure could that be your problem?

QueenGambit · 11/01/2021 20:00

Google BPPV.

Hopefully your GP a an sort you out. If not, and the dizziness persists, get them to refer you to a vestibular doctor, who will normally be found within ENT in a major hospital.
