Tinnitus, but only when I lie down

I've been having what I thought were earwax problems: sore ears, feeling of fullness, needing to turn the TV up, occasional ringing and rumbling in my ears. For the past 3-4 weeks I've been putting a drop of olive oil in each ear most nights, and it's really eased a lot. But now I notice that I get intense ringing every time I lie down. Can this be earwax-related, or is it something else? Is this sort of tinnitus something that should be investigated right now? Is there any risk in waiting until the risk from Covid is reduced before investigating?

Could it be labyrinthitis?
