Heart failure at 32? Scared!

I have been having a range of worsening symptoms all year. Current symptoms are now;
Pins and needles/tingling in hands and feets. Have woken a few nights with pins and needles in arms.
Dizziness/feeling off balance at times and also faint
Constant headache on one side
Have experienced episodes of feeling like I can't get enough air in my lungs...mainly has woken me from sleeping and now feel uncomfortable lying flat on back.
Recent onset of chest pains and ectopic beats.
Brain fog
Everything I've looked up now points to heart failure. I'm so, so scared. Have 2 young children. How common is heart failure at 32? I can't find many statistics online.
I have normal blood pressure and a good cholestrol level when it was checked 2.5 years ago. Went to a&e when I first experienced breathlessness and had about a 10 second ecg which was normal but doesn't give me much hope. I am about 2.5 stone over weight which I really need to lose. Had so many blood tests and everything has been normal so far. Does anyone know much about heart failure? Sad Have gp appointment on Monday.

Reading your OP and you sound just like the me of 4 months ago. Since January last year I'd been suffering from many of the same symptoms as you. The first time I had a case of severe palpitations I went to a and e as I was convinced I was having a heart attack. I wasn't - but this triggered what I now know was severe health anxiety. I was convinced I was seriously ill/dying. After another trip to a and e thinking I was having a heart attack (September last year) I finally spoke to my gp and started sertraline for anxiety. It has honestly changed my life! I still have anxious thoughts, but I can acknowledge them and then let them go, rather than allowing them to escalate into panic and the symptoms that come with that. I feel like me again.

It is so so hard to believe when you're deep in it, but panic disorder really can cause the most bizarre symptoms, and they can just feed into your health concerns. I had some CBT before starting medication, and though it helped, I couldn't convince myself that I wasn't unwell. Sertraline has finally put me on an even keel :)

Sorry for the ramble, but I just had to respond as I just felt your OP so deeply! Good luck!

Thanks so much for all your replies. They have made me feel so much better. I am seeing my gp tomorrow so I will what she suggests. I am sick of feeling physically unwell all the time which is why it's hard for me to accept this is just anxiety when I seem to suffer from physical symptoms more than mental symptoms. Oh to feel well again!

How'd it go ??

Mumma02 · 11/01/2021 23:00

@waitrosetrollydolly the gp definitely thinks I have physical symptoms of anxiety but can't ignore the chest pains so has booked me in for an ECG and chest x ray. I really didnt think anxiety could cause somebody to feel so physically ill!
