Really worried about lump in babies arm

Our 5 month old has a small hard red lump (about the sze of a pea)under the skin on her shoulder, it has been there for about a week. Our Dr says that he doesn't know what it is, and has referred us to the hospital. He did say not to worry, as it would probably have dissappeared by the time the appointment arrived. But of course, I'm worried as hell. I just wondered if anyone could have any ideas what it could be, or if anyone elses baby has had anything similar. Sorry if I sound like a stupid paranoid mum.

i dont know hazy, just wanted to bump this for you.

FWIW i had a similar thing under the skin on my shoulder blade although it wasnt visible. I went to the doctors who didnt know what it was, she said, lets just see how it goes, it could be a cyst.

It did go away all by itself, always good to have things checked though, for your peace of mind. I shouldn't think it would be anything sinister though.
