Embarrassing problem

I’ve got a spot/cyst Under the skin on the right hand side of my anus (not directly on the opening omg sorry for tmi maybe a cm or so away) I had a phone consultation with my GP a few weeks ago who said he just suspects its a cyst and if it gets painful to call back. I’m currently 5 months pregnant, it’s not got bigger and it’s all not painful (does feel mildly sensitive if I touch it) anyway I’m obviously thinking the worst and have contacted the gp again to be seen in person as I’m just so anxious about it being something sinister .

It won’t be anything sinister - maybe just caused by pressure. But you don’t want it getting painful so good idea to get seen.

It's highly doubtful that it's anything sinister. A check up will hopefully make you feel better.

Thanks both for replying I just think with being pregnant I’m just extra anxious 😟

Of course you're a bit anxious! Pregnant during a pandemic will make anyone anxious. I'm very confident that you're perfectly fine. Your gp can confirm it.

BTW, I had this exact same thing several years ago. Mine went away and it was nothing at all.

Google pilonidal cyst it could be that? I have heard it is easily taken care of. Would speak to your GP but don’t worry yourself x

Sounds like a pinonidal sinus. Have you looked up this type of anal cyst to see if that is what your GP suspected? Very common BTW!

Being pregnant, and during covid (assuming you are in Britain?) they will likey do nothing , or possibly try lancing or antibiotics, rather than the full excision and drainage. The can come and go unless treated and cleared properly. During current times, they will likely use a watch and see approach. Best of luck with it and the pregnancy though x

I’ve looked up pinonidal sinus but that seems to be more above the anus and they look quite agressive, mine is just on the right hand side and not really much to look at. Thanks for all responses though x

My eldest is waiting for surgery to remove a pilondial sinus and that definitely doesn't sound like one;they occur in a nook above the butt crack (sorry to put it like that),not everyone has that nook

It sounds like a cyst type thing;it may be possibly an ingrown hair;I shouldn't wouldn't too much unless it starts to get bigger/is weeping/causing pain.

BrummyMum1 · 07/01/2021 01:29

Are you sure it’s not a hemorrhoid? Pregnancy can cause them for some people.

Theidealcat · 07/01/2021 01:33

My first thought was a ingrown hair tbh! And I don’t think it’s a hemorrhoid as it’s to far away from the anus, and it’s not purple etc. X
