So what has been your dumbest injury?

OP posts:
Gingaaarghpussy · 09/01/2021 00:18

Sprained my ankle falling into a ditch full of snow.
Broke my toe changing a light bulb.
Cut my finger trying to catch a glass falling out of a cupboard.

The number of times I bang my head on things is a standing joke in our family (I've also shut the car door on my head more than once.) The reason my recurrent head injuries are amusing is the fact that if I draw myself up to my full height I am 5ft 0 so should be able to avoid most hazards. But if there's any possible way to head butt something, I will find it.

I’m shuddering at so many people saying they’d been scalded. It’s only a few weeks since a close 16 year old relative spilt a cup of boiling water on herself and 10 days later she died of sepsis.

Jellifer · 10/01/2021 19:23

I currently have a sprained big toe which is black and blue. I was trying to take my leggings off and they got stuck on my foot so I foolishly thought I could kick them off. Got angry when this didn’t work so kicked harder and somehow ended up putting my full weight on my bent big toe. Not my finest moment.

QforCucumber · 10/01/2021 19:24

Got out of the pool first day of holiday, slipped and broke my elbow Grin cast from thumb to shoulder the entire 10 days

AmazingBouncingFerret · 10/01/2021 19:34

Double door kitchen cabinet.
Wasn’t looking properly and tried to open one of the doors, I pulled the handle of the wrong one and ended up smacking myself in the face with it.

emeraldcity2000 · 10/01/2021 19:39

Uni - Quite a severe burn to my bum sitting on my hair straighteners.

Greybeardy · 10/01/2021 19:48

my hand slipped pulling up a sleeve quite energetically and i punched myself in the face, broke my nose and passed out. It's a dangerous world out there. Blush

goose1964 · 10/01/2021 19:58

Sat hard on the arm of our sofa, bruised my coccyx.

Maverickess · 10/01/2021 20:06

Bit into one of those extra crunchy posh crisps, a piece flew off into my eye and stung like a bitch but after a few days my eye was puffy, red and infected. Had a scratched cornea and an infection.

From a fucking crisp.
Sick note for work was interesting!

Nanasueathome · 10/01/2021 20:10

I ironed my hands
Bought one of those ironing presses and flattened the sleeves of a shirt with my hands
Then pulled the handle down and placed both hands under the incoming press so that the seams would stay in the sleeve
Was very sore and blistered for days

RainbowBrite1 · 10/01/2021 20:15

I tore the ligaments in my ankle when I was younger drunk in a nightclub, I fell off the revolving dance floor. Not my finest moment 😂
I was so embarrassed I jumped straight back up but even been drunk I was in agony. I was only 18

WhiteVixen · 10/01/2021 20:18

Broke a bone in my foot by trying to get up and walk after I'd been sat on the sofa with my leg tucked under me for so long my foot had gone completely numb. Didn't lift my foot properly, caught my toes on the carpet and my momentum carried me forwards, folding my foot in half.

thefirstmrsrochester · 10/01/2021 20:20

There’s an old thread in classics dedicated to such injuries. A poster received friction burns and bruises on their undercarriage from going down the stairs on one of these toddlers plastic rocking horses Grin

Spaghettio · 10/01/2021 20:25

Sitting on the loo at home. Dropped the loo paper and bent down to retrieve it.

Head vs basin = concussion 🤕 🤦🏻‍♀️

thefirstmrsrochester · 10/01/2021 20:25

I got a black eye from running into the living room with no shoes on to see what my kids were shrieking about, and skidded across the wood floor on the contents of an upended potty and would up in the fireplace head first.

HerLadySheep · 10/01/2021 20:29

Peeled at my contact lens but couldn't quite take it out of my eye.....because it was already out!
Never ever felt pain like it.

Bunnybigears · 10/01/2021 20:30

Shaved the end of my nose off while trying to see if the blades of a razor I found in the shower were rusty without my glasses on. I still don't know if they were rusty but they were bloody sharp!

zeitgeista · 10/01/2021 20:31

like an actual chunk? :OOO

Bobbiepin · 10/01/2021 20:33

Ran into a leaf. It drew blood.

Yes, really.

plg21 · 10/01/2021 20:33

My friend was very accident prone as a teenager. Caught her back foot in a pair of flares, tripped over and shattered her kneecap. Broke her wrist hitting the side of the pool doing backstroke (not in a race, just a leisurely swim). Caught her hand in one of those vaulting box type things and broke her knuckles. Her parents were always in A&E.

plg21 · 10/01/2021 20:35

I have posted this one before, but my colleague answered the iron instead of his phone and had a perfect pointy burn mark on his face for several weeks. Looking back, we were all most unsympathetic and couldn't stop laughing every time we saw him in the office.

beccy11 · 10/01/2021 20:37

I fell over a hippo and broke my wrist.
Sounds dramatic until I clarify it was a blue plastic hop and pop hippo (you pushed it along and it gobbled up toy cubes).
Am sure the A and E dr thought I was hallucinating 🤣

Bunnybigears · 10/01/2021 20:38

like an actual chunk?
A small chunk yes, the amount of blood (probably looked worse as mixed with the shower water) was horrendous and I had to quickly explain what had happened to a panicking DH who must have thought I had been attacked Psyco style!

PhantomErik · 10/01/2021 20:40

I slipped in cat sick & cut the underneath of my toe down to the bone. Had it stitched twice (it split) & had to use crutches for over 2 weeks.
