Constant urge to pee - not UTI - what is it?

Tests for UTI/bladder infection came back negative. Antibiotics / cystitis meds also nothing.

For the last few weeks I have a pressure low down like I really need to wee, when I obviously don't. I have no other symptoms like burning/stinging/discharge/constipation/bloating, literally just this.

Up until the last couple of days it has just been at night when I am lying down that it happens - but now it's throughout the day too.

I have just done another urine test and STI test for the doctor, but that will be negative, and then have to wait for a scan. It's really impacting me day to day and now I am worrying. Has anyone ever experienced this?

I have - I have it now but it's related to a birth injury and it's only bad when I'm standing up - I guess this isn't your issue or you'd mention it. When I had it before all uti and sti tests were negative - gp said it was still a uti just not showing up and it was treated with trimpethoprim. When it didn't go after 2 lots of 5 day treatment the gp said that the infection was sticking in the bladder walls and I took the trimethoprim for 28 days and that cleared it

So it still could be a uti. Also try taking a thrush tablet. This cured me when I had the same problem, even with no thrush symptoms. Also could you be constipated?

@GlennRheeismyfavourite thank you for responding! Yes, no kids here and no issues in this area at all before. I was given a 3 day course and it did nothing. I am hoping I can have a scan soonish because it's becoming hard to ignore! Thank you

I had something similar a few months ago and a scan revealed an ovarian cyst. It was harmless and by the second scan 6 weeks later it had disappeared.

Sometimes raised pottasium levels can cause constant urge to pee. If you had blood test then see if it on higher side and if it is then consult your GP if this could be an issue. Also if pottasium is the cause then stopping pottasium rich foods like banana and eating calcium should sort the problem.

Do you happen to drink lots of diet drinks?? I had terrible problems with this a few years ago. Tests couldn't find the cause so I tracked symptoms and worked out that it happened most after I had drunk anything containing artificial sweeteners (particularly aspartame/acesulphame K). Since I've cut them out, the problem has gone away and only happens if I drink something containing them by mistake. It's quite a common side effect apparently. Just a thought.

Thanks all. I do drink diet drinks reasonably often but really once every other day - sometimes longer between - and i haven't in a few days now at all. But would love it if that was the reason!! I have just done a bunch of urology tests, i think next is blood and scan. Thanks everyone for your help.
