I've had it for about 4/5 weeks now.

I'll be ok for a couple of days, then wake up streaming again, I was ok yesterday, but, I've woken today and my jaw is aching, I can stop sneezing, eyes streaming etc.

I've not got a cough but occasionally get bit of a tight feeling in my chest.

Any ideas for getting rid?

Could it be an allergy?
colds don't usually linger that long.

CAn you get some eucalyptus oil from Boots?

They do a good aromatherapy range. 2-4 drops in a bowl of hot water & towel over the head job. Deep breathe........

You'll sneeze & cough a lot but it leaves you feeling very un-bunged up.(good grammar or wot but YKWIM!!!) try it twice a day, it should loosen the old secretions. You might have infected sinus' & that can linger terribly, get it checked out at your docs if you can't shake it off.

Haven't had a cold for three years after finding echinacea tincture from Bushy Tail remedy company www.bushytail.co.uk
As soon as I think I'm beginning with a cold I take 1 tsp 3x a day with water.
You could/should try this!
Otherwise, are you sure its a cold? My sister has a feather pillow allergy and gets similar symptoms.
Perhaps you should see your gp and explain how long it has been going on for.
Hope you feel better soon...

I don't think it is in allergy, it seems to go for a day or too then comes back and i am getting really fed up now.

I was thinking about going to the doctor, but, thought I might get sent away with a flea in my ear after being told 'there is nothing we can do about a common cold'

radley, it is just a cold, ive had it for about 7 weeks now, as have the rest of my family, it does exactly as u say, goes away and u think your finally free, then BANG its back again, dont think theres much u can do but ride it out, try taking lots of vitamin c eg lots of fresh (not from concentrate) pure orange, eat lots of veg, drink lots of water to try and "flush" the virus out, oh and of course keep dosed up on cold remedies.

My mum suffers badly like you do, she has had hers for months, she is overweight though and her immune system is not as it should be.

Might be worth a quick chat to the doctors, perhaps they can run a blood test to see if your immune system is top notch.

Take LOADS of vitamin C (you know you're not absorbing anymore if you get the runs!) and, if you're into that sort of thing, you could try the homeopathic remedy 'Belladonna'.
Get well soon.

Radley - I have this too so feel for you. Finally gave in and went to Doctors yesterday as have been suffering for 4 weeks. Apparently, I have a virus (tell me something I didn't already know, which will go on its own!! ) I also now have tonsillitus, but they won't prescribe for that either as also a virus!! So advice from my doctor wrap up warm, gargle with asprin, and rest. Hope you feel better soon. XX
