Rotavirus immunisation - my stomach hurts

Greengiraffe1 · 30/12/2020 12:48

Baby had second dose of rotavirus yesterday, as careful as I was, I feel I may have taken in the tiniest bit. I had breakfast this morning and since then my stomach has been feeling like it's cramping.

Just the usual bowel movements, no vomiting either. Has anyone had this happen? Was it just like a stomach bug? I've just taken some paracetamol for the pain.

Eh? How would you have got some too?

Greengiraffe1 · 30/12/2020 13:18

@dementedpixie I am unsure! We used a dummy to get her to swallow it and maybe I touched a bit on the dummy and should have washed my hands afterwards just in case? Therefore not being as careful as I though! Or maybe this is all a coincidence 🤷 I was just looking for someone that may have had similar and how it affected them?

Plus the fact I had a mask on so to take it off my hands went near my face? All I know is I don't feel well today and my baby had rotavirus yesterday.

I very much doubt its related to the rotavirus immunisation then. Probably a coincidence

The vaccine is safe for babies to ingest.

A minuscule amount isn't going to cause an adult any adverse effects.

StormcloakNord · 30/12/2020 13:27

That is some leap of logic there like Hmm

lcdododo · 30/12/2020 13:29

OP, you're actually potentially in the right here.

This vaccine can cause an upset stomach, and when it is given the nurse will specifically say, or should say, that you aren't to share anything (bottle/dummies etc) in your mouth with your child for 24 hours due to the risk of you ingesting it and getting poorly

So no, you're not as bonkers as the PP are implying. They're simply not informed.

I was told the same Op so I’d guess it’s entirely possible you picked something up. I think you can get it from changing nappies as well. Hopefully it’s nothing!
