Heavy period for 16 days?!

I have now been on my period for 16 days and it’s not tapering off at all. Large clots, changing my pad every 3 hours or so, flooding during the night (even leaked on my friends sofa!!!!! Blush) I’m 26, and I do have PCOS but haven’t experienced them like this before. Last month was the exact same, but my gp prescribed me a medication (can’t remember the name) to lessen the flow, worked a treat. Not worked this month though.
I’m not really in pain as such with it, but it’s making me really tired and absolutely destroyed me over Christmas! I had to lye down after watching my girls open their presents on Christmas Day because I just felt so tired!
I’ve been Googling and saw several things of what it could be. Premenopause, fibroids etc.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem?!
Also my smear came back all clear when I had that in June.

I feel your pain though mine is due to a v large fibroid. I was prescribed tranexamic acid. I skip a month now but then the flooding lasts 17-20 days. So inconvenient but WFH has really helped with that

The GP did say ironically, anaemia can worsen flooding and sometimes, if the anaemia is addressed, the problem lessens.

Go back to the GP and ask for a referral to a Gynaecologist. Must have been so awful over Christmas for you. Mine gives me Christmas off but has ruined my last 3 holidays.
