Dh at undercooked pies

timeforanewstart · 20/12/2020 23:30

So i cooked a couple frozen pies for dh in oven 25-30 mins and top of pie starting to burn so I took out and put on plate , they were a little hard to get out foil as had stuck a little and felt warm whilst I removed and could see some steam
Anyway after eating them dh said they were only luke warm in the middle ( why he ate them and didn't put back in the oven I Don't know )
My fault for not checking as well but felt hot and were in long enough and i was cooking other foods that were fine.
So what kind if food poisoning is he likely to get
I am annoyed at him for eating them as well as could easily of gone back in oven or microwave as pies were a bit bashed where they were tricky getting out of the foil.
How long does food poisoning normally begin and what kind of bacteria can you get from pies
What should we look out for ?

He'll be fine. And if not, its his own fault for continuing to eat them

abstractzebra · 21/12/2020 06:07

Not everything that is undercooked gives you food poisoning!
The bacteria has to be there to cause it!
I find it a bit odd that you are steeling yourself for something that probably won't happen and even if it did, probably won't be that terrible.

He is completely overreacting. Highly unlikely he's get food poisoning from a pie!

rottiemum88 · 21/12/2020 06:40

What kind of pies were there? Is it not likely the meat would have been pre-cooked anyway before freezing? If so, food poisoning very unlikely I would imagine.

Iggly · 21/12/2020 06:41

Well take some responsibility and chill. I think it’s likely fine!

insancerre · 21/12/2020 06:43

I doubt he will get any type of food poisoning
Presumably the filling was already cooked and you just reheated it

@stepintochristmas 30 mins or until top golden brown.
They were only individual pies not a large pie and not really that big even for individual ones

Beating myself because I have real ocd about food and am normally over the top careful
I don't think i have ever not checked filling before serving but was fooled by how hot pies were when trying to get out foil
Although I did say make sure pies are hot enough and only after eating both did he say luke warm to
Cold inside
God knows why he ate them we have a microwave so worst case could of zapped them for. Couple minutes

Get a food probe. I find it very helpful. Although it was his choice to continue eating so its not your issue to worry about

Europilgrim · 21/12/2020 08:23

What was in the pie? That makes a difference!
