Remedies for trapped wind

I've been in pain with this for 24 hours. Buscopan helps a bit as does a hot water bottle. Its also giving me back ache, is this normal? I feel like I just need to do a really good fart but can't Grin

I initially suspected a uti but I don't think it's that. I'm so bloated it's painful sitting down. Does anyone know of any remedies or OTC meds that would help?

Deflatine and wind settler tablets help a bit.
Lots of peppermint tea.
Lying on your front for 10 mins can help push it out, as can lying on your left side.
Massaging your stomach and bowel hard in a clockwork motion.
The cat cow yoga position and also the one with the face on the ground with your bum in the air (stay in the position for a few mins).
Are you constipated at all as that could be stopping the farts coming out 😂. If so then prunes are great at getting things moving

I found peppermint cordial was useful after I'd had my DCs (c-section) and was having awful trapped wind. Also plain hot water. I don't know how it works exactly but I know it does!

I know it sounds silly but when I feel rough and need a really good burp but can't , my DP suggested drinking fizzy to make me burp and having tried it really seems to help, I usually just have water or lemon aid to avoid nausea

Peppermint cordial if you can get it.

Lie on your front.

Are you able to poo? A laxative might bring the gas out with poo but not recommended unless you are a bit bunged up.

@Blossomtree323 oh OP I really sympathise I've suffered terribly in the past with this because of my coeliac disease, do you know what's caused it?

I second all the suggestions above but I would add painkillers, the strongest ones you have but not codeine, it will pass eventually, where are you feeling the discomfort? Is it low down, which might suggest a UTI or is it higher up, in your side or back?

blossomtree323 · 19/12/2020 12:36

@MissSmiley in my lower abdomen below belly button. The pain moves around. I don't know what's caused it Sad

@Blossomtree323 that sounds like it might be a UTI, are you getting any pain when you wee?

When I have bloating from food things I'm sensitive to, I bloat all the way up to my boobs, you poor thing, have you taken some painkillers? I think you need your wee dipping though
