Mum and indigestion

My mum has been suffering from chronic indigestion for months, her GP referred her for an endoscopy but the waiting list is over a year long. The medication is partially working but she still has symptoms and has now lost a bit of weight. She’s had diarrhoea for a week now too, it’s been coming and going for a few weeks. I’m urging her to go back to the GP for a referral under the two week wait as I’m worried it’s cancer.

What else could it be?

I think it's impossible to guess what it could be by you are right to want her seen again.

My DF was screened for cancer after having similar symptoms and it turned out to be diverticulitis. Whatever it is, it needs diagnosing properly Thanks

Please, please push for endoscopy ASAP. This is exactly what happened to my mum and she died from stomach cancer, which had already spread to her liver, only four months after she finally got a diagnosis.

Are the NHS still doing 2 week wait referrals? She is thinking of going private as she can’t wait a year for an endoscopy.

Seychelles98 - she’s 60. Her stomach isn’t really swollen no.

Summerdayshaze - I’m so sorry Flowers

The nhs are still doing 2 week wait referrals here as my dad had this for recent problems swallowing. He was called in a couple of days and booked in for an endoscopy within the 2 weeks.
