Is this a common side effect? I mid cycle in my first month of taking cerazette, and am experiencing what seems like a light period. Has anyone else experienced this as a side effect of the mini pill, and if so, does it calm down in time?
One period a month is bad enough!

Just reading about the mini pill . In a new relationship after many years and at my age 49 dont want any more kids so adviced to take the mini pill. I have not felt so ill in years. Im on day 25 and ive been bleeding every day. Cramps that wake me up back pain and cant see anyone nurse doctor for 2 weeks. How to kill my sex life! Any suggestions on what i could take would be good. X

I’m so glad I found this post...
In a new relationship, first in a very long time. Started taking to regulate periods only, 2 weeks in and 2 weeks after my last period, I’m having another and accompanied with a banging headache...
For someone who can’t see her partner very often I’m seriously tempted to stop taking these before the month is out. Sex life was amazing before I started, it’s going to be non existent at this rate...
But at least I can see from this thread I’m not alone...

I am on Desorex. Taking the pill for 7 weeks now. I had to change from combined to mini pill. First month was ok. Then my period came and has not stopped for 25 days now ( some days it is light ). Went back to GP and they gave me tranexamic acid to take for 4 days only to stop the bleeding. Looks like it did not do the job. I had the implant before and it didn't settle ( had my period for 45 days. And I was given 2 different types of mini pill to help it , but no result. I had enough and I had the implant removed). I was advised to continue taking Desorex for at least another 5 weeks - to give it a chance to settle. Very annoying Hmm . While i was on Mycroginon I had a bit of spots only the first and third month. Then it was perfect. Hope the mini pill will settle down soon as I really considering coming off it now

I have been on the Cerelle mini pill for over a year now with no problems. Recently I have been having periods and bleeding more I have been bleeding for over a week now so I’m not sure if this is normal or not. I take my pill at the same time everyday etc.

I Am just 50 and the nurse said I have to now take mini pill not combined because of menopause etc have been taking Cerelle mini pill foR 5 months and have had nonstop bleeding every day On it! And is now becoming a nuisance And I can’t have sex! I called the Nurse and she said either stop taking it and use condoms! Or just keep with it and it may settle which is what I read too From 5-6 months! - Not very helpful. just wondering if the 3 hour window one would be better but guess everyone is different

As this is the 12 hour one I set an alarm to take at the same time every day even suggested the snip to my other half’s horror! I bet if men had th is issue they would find something to sort it! Ok rant over!

@Joolimooli I coming toward 5 months of it too and about to give in and stop taking it
I've started it a few times and it's always the same although this time I think it's been going on for longer
Even when it does settle down and you don't have ANY bleeding for a few months it's really annoying to have no idea when it might start again . That's how I ended up coming on my period just as we got to the hotel on my honeymoon after months of no periods

Joolimooli · 07/07/2020 19:53

@Comps83 oh that sounded terrible on your honey moon too 😞sounds like this is common then, I have not stopped bleeding for 5 months. speaking to the nurse again tomorrow to see if I can try another type! What a rubbish pill this is. I keep thinking every day it will stop today but no it just keeps happening 😖

Joolimooli · 07/07/2020 20:04

@Comps83 have you tried different Types of the mini pill?

Comps83 · 07/07/2020 20:10

@Joolimooli I think I must have as I remember the 'take it at the same time every day' and now on on the '12 hours time slot' one'
I can't be doing with it anymore feels like it's gone on forever this time
Tbf tho its probs more like 3 months... but still
