All the symptoms of a UTI but samples are clear

In the last 7 weeks I have had 2 lots of samples come back clear of infection, although when dipped in the surgery they show that there is something going on. I have all the symptoms of a UTI, the frequency, the lower stomach discomfort and back pain. Also a bit fluey and temp up a bit. Not sleeping so well thanks to needing to go a lot and am having flushes, which I have put down to the temperature. Not pregnant (chance would be a fine thing). Have just done another sample for the doctors and been put on antibiotics just in case. What else could it be? I am making an appointment for next week as I already think the sample will be clear.
Oh, I just stopped breastfeeding 2 months ago after 22 mths...could it all be hormonal?

I have similar thing going on at the moment, my dr has sent my sample off somewhere, because like you I have symptoms of UTI, run down, back pain, needing to wee all the time, but sample showed nothing wrong. He did say that I needed to have my bits looked at ( he didn,t put it in quite that way!), because with 2 births in 2 years both of which required stitches, that may have caused some problems - it was all a bit vague really, but just wondered if a similar thing had been suggested to you. Hope you feel better soon.

Doctor did ask about my periods and any discharge but left it at that. I am beginning to think it may well be something to do with my plumbing! I have had 3 children and the first was a 3rd degree tear, and I do get physio for that still . Sounds like we are in the same boat at the moment. Hope you feel better soon.

I hesitate to say this, but it sounds like interstitial cystitis.

Ie cystitis that has all symptoms, no signs of infection in urine.

I had it for 2 years, and refloxology (seriously) shifted mine.

There is a support group online

Oh dear, yes i had a 3rd degree tear too with my dd1, I didn't have any probs afterwards, but did have another baby (and another tear ) the following year. I'm going to go back to the docs tomorrow - let me know how you get on.

FB, thanks for the info, have googled and found some stuff. It does sound similar, only I can't say I have cramps or am in agony, and I don't have pain when having a wee. I am just sore and really uncomfortable in my lower abdomen and back, and have had really bad heartburn/indigestion with it. I will mention it to the doctor!
HG, hope you get on ok. Thanks again

i have constant problems with this - negative samples. now i just ask for the penicillin and it goes, so i know there is something up. even saw a urologist who cd not get to the bottom of it (so to speak). ended up taking it virtually throughout pregnancy with no ill effects ( thank goodness). HTH
