Hi, I've never done this before but can't really find anything else on what I'm wondering about.
So I have pcos and my periods have always been irregular with lengthy cycles of 50-60 days. I've not struggled with infertility and my first ds was born in 2018. I breastfed him for a year though my periods returned at 6 months. The first three were fairly normal but when I reached month 9 and 10 I started to bleed for too long. 19 days and then 23 days. The bleeding was fairly light mostly and never very heavy at all. I went to the gp who ordered bloods which were normal and a scan which showed an 'abnormal thickening of uterine lining" was referred to gynae but then had a positive pregnancy test whilst waiting for my appointment. When I went to the appointment to explain this I was sent over to early pregnancy who confirmed with an early scan showing a 5 week gestational sac. They put the thickened lining down to this period.
My second ds was born this year about 7 months ago. This time I had a scan 12 weeks postpartum to check that the lining etc had all gone back to normal which it had. There was nothing to be seen on the scan at all. However now at 7.5 months postpartum it seems to all be starting again. I've been spotting and bleeding for 16 days now in what I'd describe as my first proper period (I've had light spotting for 4/5 days in the month since 5 months) when I spoke to the early pregnancy consultant last time she said it could have just been my body having a clear out. A combination of first post partum period, pcos and breastfeeding so my body not knowing what was going on.
My question is really if anyone else has experienced quite. Lengthy bleeding as their periods returned and did things settle down? Because I got pregnant so quickly last time I never got a chance to see if things would calm down.
Sorry for the essay but I was so hoping that this wouldnt happen this time and things would go back to normal. Thanks in advance for any reassurance
