Hi ladies I’m looking for some advice please. For around 2 days I have had kidney pain and slight back pain.
I spoke to the nurse today who wanted a urine sample from me, I did it at home and my husband dropped it into surgery for me.
She dipped it and I called them back to be told by receptionists, i have electrolytes and protein in my sample and they won’t prescribe anything until it’s gone to the lab.
I wasn’t happy with the receptionist repeating this so I asked the nurse call me back.
The nurse doesn’t seem to think it’s even an infection for some reason. She said they could have gotten into my urine by how it was taken. I’m really confused as I do have quite strong shooting kidney pain. Any advice?

We're supposed to have electrolytes in urine. Protein may/may not be a problem depending on how much there is. Neither relate particularly to infection. Not all renal pain is due to infection. If you're worried about your symptoms still it's probably best to talk to a doctor.
