Anyone had this? Apparently I can’t have a re test for three months which scares me.

I had one a month ago and am having another on Saturday (not UK) doc said it was because of "inflammation". I've often had to redo them as I had/have cervical erosion. Doesn't stop me panicking though!

I constantly had this due to cervical erosion. On one occasion it took three smears to get a result.

Yes I had this, essentially they didn't collect enough cells on the swab to do their tests - not necessarily an indication of anything wrong. They say wait three months to ensure enough cells regenerated. I had my repeat after the 3 months, made sure the nurse took extra time to def collect enough of a sample and results were fine. Easier said than done but don't worry.

I've had this repeatedly. Last time round it took 6 attempts (3 by different practice nurses/GPs, 3 at colposcopy clinic) to get an actual result. The time before that it took 3 goes.

I was expecting much the same when I had my latest smear earlier this year but as I was HPV negative they didn't need to check the cells themselves.

Mine was due to lack of cells collected.

I spoke to the GP and she says it normally says insufficent cells or whatever it not enough were collected, however my result says inadequate / lost in transit.

No way to tell which one!

Still anxious. Last smear was normal 3 years ago so hoping I’m ok
