Leg pain and scan

About 6 months ago my right leg began to hurt, on the shin at the front which had a particular sore spot which hurt if I pressed it.

This sort of coincided with working from home (so not using a proper desk and sitting on the floor/with legs crossed at a makeshift desk) as well as walking really long distances each day to make the most of going out. My exercise classes stopped due to covid and I also gained some weight due to comfort eating. I have previously had surgery on the heel of this leg, due to dodgy tendons, so it sometimes feels very tight in the calf area.

The pain has come and gone intermittently and is there less often than it is there. However I've noticed it more recently and now the whole leg aches occasionally - the knee feels tight, my hip sometimes hurts and the shin is just achey, like the muscles feel really achey and tight. The shin bone area doesn't really hurt anymore but I sometimes notice the sore spot that it began with 6 months ago and I can't stop myself physically checking it and it's on my mind from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep. Then when I wake in the night or morning, I mentally and physically go to check it. I don't notice it when I'm doing something and I'm distracted, like I did an arts and crafts workshop at the weekend and didn't notice it however my mind reminds me and I mentally and physically check it.

Saw an orthopaedic consultant who couldn't find anything obviously wrong, particularly as I felt fine that day with no leg pain and a physical exam didn't show anything either. So I've been referred for a scan and I am TERRIFIED.

Severe health anxiety and concerned this may be some form of bone/soft tissue/marrow cancer, particularly as the pain has come and gone, is there at night sometimes and doesn't have any obvious signs of something else.

I asked the orthopaedic consultant what it could be and he said he it could be so many things so they start with a scan and then can move on to other scans, blood tests etc to see what it is.

I haven't spoken to anyone about this because my anxiety has been out of control recently :(

Now I've got a really painful bit on the bottom of my foot on that side - on the pad between the arch and the toes :(
