Euugh- Scaly red toddler cheeks! What is it? How do I get rid of it?

Dd 20 mo has developed red, scaly patches on her cheeks, they are getting worse as the weather gets colder.
They seem similar to the ones her peers had during teething, drooling phase, though she never had them then.
They're definitely worse when she first gets up (she sleeps on her face LOL), or when we come in from outside.

Should I just put a slick of vaseline/nivea creme on them every now and again, or is that likely to irritate her?

She does have some low level eczema, rarely flairs up tbh.

dd had the same. i was told it was excema. we used aqueous cream (very cheap from chemist) and for a couple of days(but not regularly) a bit of 0.5% hydrocortisone cream

we use aqueous cream for baths (instead of bubbles / soap etc) and during the day, and mostly vaseline at night. These are the bargain solutions - work for my lot who also have eczema etc. but is fairly easily controllable. A wierd idea that we have in our house is making sure that toothpaste only goes in their mouths as it causes them to get chapped skin if it touches chin or cheeks

i would use good old fashioned vaseline
these come in winter but if looked after will be gone in 2-3 days

gw- I too find toothpaste burns my face! Though its great for clearing up a spot in an emergency!
