Anyone had a bad experience with this? Gave DS a dose at 7 the other night and another at 4 in the morning and he acted scarily drugged (rolling eyes, couldn't sit up, just wanted to sleep) till about midday. Won't be touching the stuff again - it didn't even help him sleep!!!

Is it approved for under 1s? I know I bought it by accident once, and didn't realise it was mostly antihistamines.

jampot · 23/10/2004 11:21

according to netdoctor its not recommended for under 2years old

I have medised infant which says it is from 3m+. Did you have the infant one, or was it the one for older children?

The promethazine in Medised is an antihistamine. Some people are really sensitive to this and will become very sleepy. My guess is you have a sensitive baby.

EvesMama · 23/10/2004 22:35

its designed to help them sleep but not that excessivly, would try smaller doeses or try baby nurofen?

Gomez · 23/10/2004 22:41

Tried it recently with a 4 month old and it didn't make her at all sleepy. Helped with the cold symptoms she had but no magic sleep button. Is he a particularly light boy? Or maybe just sensitive as suggested. Hope he is okay know.

I tried to but medised 3+ but was told by two different pharmacists that they no longer stock it in the lower strength. Maybe this is why.

bizzi · 24/10/2004 18:34

that was 3mths+!

Well, its was recommended to me for a long haul flight, never again, it made both my kids hyper. DD, aged 3.5 at the time was awake all night apart from 3 hours, DS just screamed. JOY OH JOY, chucked the bottle, never again
