....so could I come round tomorrow & do some sewing for her

I actually don't feel that ill - but my ear and my synuses are really painful

Does it justify taking paracetamol & codiene (the heavy duty ones that I got for my bad back) or is there something better I could do?

If you have a sinus infection you might need an anti biotic. I once had one get so bad I ended up in hospital having a brain scan, as doctor was convinced ut had to be something more serious.

Katymac · 19/10/2007 22:40

vicks?

For a cold that's settled on my sinuses the only thing that seems to touch it is Nurofen Cold & Flu (sadly you can only take it every four hours and for me the effects only last for two).

littleNonSpecificHolidaylapin · 19/10/2007 22:45

Lemsip Max cold and flu has been working well for me, and is QUICK (but contains painkiller so check if you are taking other stuff)

PeachesMcLean · 19/10/2007 22:46

Errrmmm, I think you can take it as well as, but check the packaging. It's pseudoephedrine (sp?) rather than paracetamol or coedeine. I give it to DS when his ears are bunged up with a cold.

And if you forget to ask for "non drowsy" you certainly won't be helping your mother with sewing! Can knock you out a bit.

Elasticbandstand · 19/10/2007 22:48

whatever you have.

it sounds painful

Katymac · 19/10/2007 22:51

Bugger nothing even remotley sudafed like in the cupboard

All I have is a weeks supply of amoxycillin that the dentist gave me when I had recurrent toothache & I was going abroad

probably not a good idea to take it tho'

It does hurt

I am going for the codiene option I am officially a wuss

OP posts:
lemonaid · 19/10/2007 23:35

Not a wuss -- I swear I'd rather do labour than have sinusitis.

lemonaid · 19/10/2007 23:36

Which is handy, being pregnant and all (given that delivering a baby via one's sinuses isn't an option AFAIK)

Katymac · 19/10/2007 23:36

That amoxycillin looks so tempting - I'm sure that's what I'd get at the GP's

They only ever give out amoxycillin

Well I slept very deeply last night (nothing to do with the painkillers, I'm sure)

I did hand reflexology all night to try & shift the sinusitus & I feel loads better today

My ear is supremely painful - but it is the skin of my outer ear & the cartiledge (?) that is hurting now - not inside

But I have virtually no voice - no sore throat but no voice

So all in all that's not a bad result
