I was prescribed Nefopam, paracetomal and naproxen last Friday for agonising low back pain that extends into both buttocks on occasion.
They were delivered on Monday and I took my first approx 3pm and I've been doing it as prescribed ever since.
Naproxen 1x twice a day
Paracetomal 2 x 8 a day (I'm only taking 6 though at the same time as nefopam)
Nefopam 2 x 3 a day.
I've taken paracetomal and naproxen before but this is the first time I'm on Nefopam and from my googling the problems appear to be known side effects from it.
The pain relief is incredible. I know it's still there but I can finally move and stand up without having to use a flat surface to use to help push myself up.
I'm finding it's zapping my appetite entirely (yesterday I ate only three pieces of toast and a meal replacement shake because I couldn't face food) and also despite being shattered I can't sleep. I literally went to bed at 8pm last night because I was so tired. I managed about an hour between then and 1am and then catnapped from approx 3am to 8am waking up every half hour or so and being awake for a bit before nodding off again.
It's a toss up as to what is worse - the pain or being able to sleep properly!
From googling and reading reviews, apparently 2 weeks in the appetite rights itself but I can't find anything about if the sleep corrects itself.
I can't speak to my doctor until tomorrow (the Monday-Thursday doctor is useless to the point a discharging ear infection of my relative basically got a shrug and a 'so what?' rant about people only wanting tablets) as he's only in on Friday's so today I'm trying to lower the dose a little so hopefully I can get some sleep tonight as I'm a carer so it's a vicious circle with pain & lack of sleep.
I'm trying:
2 x naproxen (morning/evening)
6 x paracetomal (morning/dinner/evening)
2 x nefopam in the morning and 1 at dinner and then no more for the rest of the day - so half the prescribed dose to see if it still has the same help with pain reduction at least somewhat... I'd cope with some pain if I could sleep!
Does anyone else have any experience with Nefopam please?! Thank you! :)
