Am I overthinking?

Please give me some rational advice. I have health anxiety I question everything worry about everything etc. I had an app at breast clinic today because I had pain and found a large lump which I assumed was a cyst I'm very prone to them. Went today was given a mammogram and ultrasound. After the mammogram the two nurses who were doing it had a chat while looking at the images. I waited and then one said ok you might need more pictures and that was it. They let me go and I didnt get any more pictures taken. Now I'm petrified the images were not great not enough breast tissue etc and they have missed something. Am I overthinking?

Did you have the ultrasound today as well?

Pinkchocolate · 25/11/2020 23:24

That was really unprofessional of them, if you weren’t getting results they shouldn’t have said anything. I recently went through a mammogram and ultrasound and although the nurses were concerned and the consultant said I was “covered” in cysts, they were harmless and needed no treatment. Try not to think about it too much. You can’t predict what the results will be. How long do you have to wait?

I did have the ultrasound today they aspirated a few cysts, over 25ml of fluid. One was particularly painful being aspirated and turns out it was infected so the fluid is being sent away to see what bacteria. They said the mammogram was clear as well. I just panicked later thinking why did they say I might need more pictures and then it was just left. Were they just thinking the doctor might want more but I don't know why ? X

Maybe they thought you might need more but on closer inspection you didn't?

McRibpain · 26/11/2020 05:51

Sounds like they got what they needed, I wouldn't worry about that. I hope you don't have to wait too long.

The doctor is the one who would diagnose anything, if s/he didn't say anything I'd honestly ignore them. Very intensive of them to be honest

Maybe one was training? And the 'need more pictures' is for her portfolio?

Thankyou so much for replying my head is a mess just now there has been more family history of breast problems which isn't helping me. I just wish she hadn't said anything but it's my anxiety that's the problem. I've been up since 4 going over and over things in my head. One of the cysts was infected as well so that fluid is being sent away just to check the bacteria. I'm exhausted
