Skin picking

I have an awful habit, picking the skin around my fingers. On the face of it, I do it when I'm bored but I've also noticed it's much worse when I'm anxious, although I don't see myself as a particularly anxious person.

It's gone on for years. If I was going to make a proper effort to stop what kind of "treatment" do I need? Who do I see/talk to?

ATM my fingers are sore enough to keep me awake at night. It must look awful to others and especially atm, can't be hygienic.

I do this too, I pick the skin around my fingers till it bleeds and I have to put plasters on. I also have OCD and the two things can be related. My GP recently prescribed fluoxetine for the OCD, this has helped with the OCD symptoms and the skin picking.

I do it too. I hate it, but sometimes I do it without realising. It's a boredom thing for me and also an anxiety thing.
I have actually just stopped the last few weeks as I have a new job and wanted them to look nicer.
It's been hard, but it was just a conscious effort to stop doing it when I started to pick again.
I have stopped so many times in the past and always gone back to it, so I'm hoping I can stop for good this time.
The skin around my fingers is also red, even when healed, from picking them so much over the years.

I do it too and have done for years. Did some serious damage more than once with big scabs and sometimes infections.

The only thing that worked was having gel nails on, as they were too thick to grab or pick at anything. When anxiety or stress were really high I still managed to,but less often and my fingers had time to heal.

I've had them off since September (started 2016)and it looks like I mostly kicked the habit. I only have one tiny little scab atm.
