NC for this. So embarrassed...

I’m worrying about the number of times a day I’m going to the toilet. I’m a teacher, and drink a lot of water/eat healthy but i can easily go for a number 1 20 times a day and number 2 - 3-4 times minimum.

Is this normal? I’ve got really upset with myself this weekend. I’ve literally been hoping on and off the toilet seat throughout with no relief in sight. Everything is normal when I do go - wee is clear and stools are a 3/4 on the Bristol stool chart but I have some stomach pain/foul smelling gas too.

Always been regular but not this regular. Any ideas?

Have you increased the amount of fibre you are eating as this can increase the number of stools per day.

@lostandfound55 I’m veggie and have been since I was 7 - 30 years of it. I don’t think, although my fibre intake has always been high, I’ve increased it at all

Just a thought as increased fibre or increased water can make you poo more. I’m not really sure what else may be causing you to go more often especially as it’s also weeing. Maybe contact you r gp to check with them that you don’t need anything checking especially if it continues.

Irritability cause everything to speed up- irritable bladder, irritable bowel.

Stress, caffeine, alcohol.

You may have irritable bowel, reducing all that stuff will help.

Caffeine takes a while- I was several weeks caffeine free before my bladder settled down. I was convinced caffeine wasn't the culprit.

Thank you both,

I have been extremely under pressure this last week, maybe it’s that? Very strange!

sounds like classic IBS, probably triggered by stress.
