Hi all , my daughter who is 17 has come out in a circular rash all over her body arms and legs, never had it before, but while she was showing me I noticed that her body Hair seems excessive, hair on tummy and back and legs etc. For context we are indian and her father was hairy so have always assumed she had inherited from him. I will be taking to doctors tomorrow but has anybody experienced this before?

No idea about the hair but the rash could be ringworm.

It's a fungus not a worm, easily treated with prescription cream and highly contagious so she should not share towels etc until it has cleared up.

I don't think this is related to the hair either...

I think the rash is either ringworm or discoid eczema. I don’t think it’s related to the body hair either.

Thank you for replies, I just noticed that her hair seemed more excessive than normal, on stomach and legs, and wondering if it could be hormonal? The rash seems to be everywhere and only this week she has had it.

Yeah looks like ringworm

Could be pityriasis rosea. Please go to the doctor. Hairy girls get hairier at puberty. Hairiness runs in our family....we were all shaving our legs by age 8 or 9 and first round of laser by 11 or 12.

@SofiaAmes hi she is now 17 and has always been hairy, has a very thick head of hair since birth, haven't seen her undressed etc for ages and today she was showing me the rash on her stomach legs etc and ot seemed as her hair growth has gone morn, how did you manage with excessive body hair?

I was super hairy and so were all the female members of the family on both sides of my dd's family. Ironically the male members of the family on her father's side are pretty hairless. I started talking to her about it when she was super little and taught her how to shave her legs when she was 7 or 8 (the boys were teasing her badly). When she was 11, I paid for laser hair removal knowing that it would need to be redone once she had gone through puberty. (We're there now.). Definitely go for laser at your dd's age. It is pretty long term (years) and way less painful than waxing.

Re: the Rash. Please google pityriasis rosea....it looks a lot like ringworm, but isn't contagious in the same way.
