Blood pressure

I'm on blood pressure medication and went for a BP check yesterday with the HCA. It came out as 170/90 and she told me this was fine and just to let them know if I have any symptoms such as headaches etc. On googling this BP the NHS website says it's high.

I'm quite worried now as she assured me all was ok. I'll be ringing the GP on Monday for advice but wondered if she was correct in saying this?

This happens to me. Went to A&E had 150/100, told that was absolutely fine. High again at the doctors 145/95 and told absolutely fine.

I do get the blood pressure headaches as well. On medication now.

I'd say 170/90 is high, and all the websites say this is high.

Maybe it's to not worry you? I don't know. Worrying does make BP go up.

Try not to worry. Take the medication, that will do its job, avoid alcohol, caffeine, salt and all the things not good for high BP. Bananas I think are good.

Good luck OP, hope your BP comes down soon. When I had 160/110 and increasing, I'd just had a baby so that was the reason I went to hospital.

The bottom number ( diastolic ) is ok. Top number too high. Get yourself a blood pressure monitor and do 7 days of readings 2 in morning and 2 in evening. That’s all we would say at GP surgery now. Asking everyone to buy their own if they can. Drop in readings to surgery and they can work out average. Usually home ones lower.

Ok thanks for the replies. Do you think it's ok to wait till Monday? I'm quite concerned now

Try not to worry, as this definitely doesn't help with BP. You've been checked out, they said to watch out for headaches, and you are on medication for BP. If you have any other symptoms developing, you can try a walk in centre if you have one or 111 if you are very worried.

Or you can call on Monday if all is the same just to double check. Try and distract yourself and keep off google Flowers

Thank you. You're right I'm on meds and I'll try and keep calm. GP Monday Smile
