cough from cold weather?

Hi,
Can you get a cough from cold weather?
I don't have a cough at the moment but today is very cold and on the school walk I felt like I needed to cough a few times.
I'm anxious of catching covid due to high BMI (actually lost some weight recently but still high), diabetes and mild asthma.
Every winter I seem to have on off coughs so ie cough for three weeks, may go for a couple of weeks then back again. I had to give up running a couple of years ago because of it (unfortunately never got back into in the warmer weather).
Previously I thought my winters coughs may have been a combination of cold weather, public transport twice a week or from viruses children bring home from school.
WFH so no public transport this year but if I end up with a cough and neither child has one or DH then was wondering if cold weather can cause one?
Also just wondering how often I may have to go for a test if my usual winter coughs come. The last two years I've had one before now but so far this year haven't.

I’m asthmatic. Changes in temperature make me cough. Particularly inhaling cold air.

another asthmatic here, the cold definitely makes me cough if i've exerted myself.

I don't have asthma but still cough if I inhale cold air as it dries my throat. This year it's better because of the mask. Chew a gum if the cough is bothering you as your throat won't dry.
