Lower abdominal pain & back pain

Hi,

I’ve never posted here before but I’m a bit lost at what might be the issue so hoping someone can help.

Most months (around mid cycle) I get lower abdominal pain that lasts around 7 days. It’s quite low down and moves from either side of my abdomen day to day. I also feel the pain in my lower back. It does feel very similar to the sort of pain you would maybe get from trapped wind (sorry Blush) but obviously it’s not that. No constipation or urination issues and periods are regular and “normal”

Last March I went to the GP as a virtual GP was concerned was possibly appendicitis. When I visited my own GP he confirmed it wasn’t via physical exam and ruled out PID. I was referred to gynae.

Gynae couldn’t find anything he thought unusual via examination.

During that time I did have a smear and had confirmed HPV and told to have a follow up smear in 12 months.

As I said in that time I have not had the pain every month but certainly most months. It is worse when sitting down but not so bad with moving around or lying down.

Sorry for the long story.

Could it be the HPV causing these pains? Or something else?

I suffer with health anxiety so don’t find medical appointments easy but of course will go back to gynae if necessary.

Is it ovulation pain?

SD1731 · 18/11/2020 23:23

It did cross my mind, but I just didn’t think ovulation pain lasted so long?

I should also add, that when I press down on my stomach there isn’t any tenderness. Not sure if that is relevant or not

I get horrible ovulation pain, probably worse than my period pain these days, but it doesn’t tend to last more than a day or so. Sorry not much help but thought I’d share. Hope you get some answers and feel better soon

My ovulation hurts for 4 or 5 days mid cycle usually..

Thank you both for posting! That’s helpful.

I used to be convinced it was a gynae issue, and the timing certainly does point in that direction.

But more recently I have been wondering if it could possibly be gastro...
It’s strange in that the pain isn’t there constantly all day, it will come and go throughout the day which made me think maybe something digestion related

But I’m possibly clutching at straws!
