Lower left pelvic pain and backache

About a month ago, I started with a dull, period type ache in my lower left abdomen, roughly in the area where my left ovary is (I think). The pain comes and goes in its intensity, but can be quite bad at times and almost feels like a burning, stitch type of thing.

I'm also getting a sore and stiff back on the same side and sometimes the ache/pain goes down to my left buttock and thigh.

Now and again, the pain can be felt more generally across the lower abdomen, but is more often quite localised.

I had it for two weeks initially, then had a week where it seemed to go, only for it to resurface about a week ago.

It's really getting me down and I'm starting to worry about what it could be. For clarity, I had a similar thing many years ago (around 2008) and it was cause was never discovered.

I'm wondering if it's hormonal, or bowel related and also thinking that stress may be relevant as I've had a full on year.

I'm waiting for a triage call from my GP. I decided to try and get an appointment because I had a bad weekend with the pain and an acute bout of diarrhoea which seems to have settled now.

Any similar experiences? I'm 46 btw, so heading into perimenopause territory.

Similar here, been going on for months. Had various blood and fecal tests, all clear. Waiting for an ultrasound appointment. I now suspect ovarian cyst.

@thedevilinablackdress sorry to hear that you're suffering too. When I had the same thing years ago, I was convinced of a cyst, but the U/s scan found nothing.

Thanks. Fingers crossed for both of us!
