Skin tag - any advice?

Has anyone successfully removed a skin tag at home (eg by tying a bit of dental floss around it)? Does it hurt much? How long does it take to fall off?

Clear nail varnish. Worked for me, despite being sceptical. You have to repeat a few times.

I tried nail clippers with one of mine and it bled everywhere. I think I'm going to try tying one with thread this time!
