Help, worried about what results could be

Hi, so my DM is 77 and I was getting increasingly concerned about her breathlessness over last months.
Spoke to her gp in July and was told if no improvement over time get back in touch.
Breathing was slowly getting worse so gp came out to house and said ‘her chest sounds clear but with her history it’s most likely COPD . However we can’t do the test for that, due to COVID, so we’ll do an X-ray but will start her on an inhaler.’

She had X-ray and few days later was called for CT scan due to an ‘Anomaly’
Scan was yesterday evening and this morning she was called by the hospital to attend respiratory clinic on Monday.

GP who did house visit never mentioned scans or hospital .
Am worried that the speed of all this happening means it’s something serious???
Anyone with any experience of these sort of things?
