wisdom tooth

I had my wisdom tooth removed in June, I am pretty sure I got dry socket but due to lockdown the dentist refused to see me. Pain gradually subsided by late July. I still have a fairly substantial hole where the tooth was removed. In the last month I have had two occasions where I have had slight swelling along the jawline and a throbbing pain in the gum. Does anyone have any idea what this recurring pain is. My dentist is still only seeing emergencies and as I can eat and manage with painkillers it is not considered an emergency.

Could be an infection. Can't your dentist give you an appointment just to look without treatment. My dentist offered that but asked to take antibiotics first which sorted the issue. If you only have minor swelling then try bonjela first.

I have had antibiotics back in July. There is no redness in the gum but swelling externally along my jawline. At times it has been fine and then it flares up again.

Could be a deep abscess, or a deep bone infection. You need an X-ray I think to see what’s going on.

I'll try the dentist again tomorrow and see if they will see me.
