Blood test results question

I have received the results of various blood tests (done for medication that I am on and also because i had strange, flaking nails for a while. I have also been recently diagnosed with having an ovarian cyst and possibly adenomyosis).

The dr sent a text to say there is nothing to be concerned about, but having just looked at them, I can see that the RBC is 3.66 - which is highlighted as low (normal range 3.8-5.4) and the potassium levels are 5.2 - which is high (normal range 3.5-5.1). My Hb levels are 114, which I wondered were also a bit low too.

Just wondered if I need to flag this up to the GP? If not, is there some kind of diet/ supplements I should be taking to bring the levels back to normal?

Thanks so much.

Your results are borderline, your GP would have paid more attention if you had other symptoms like dizziness or blackouts. A simple Hb test does not give a complete picture.
Flaky nails could be caused by low b12 or low iron.if either is low and the other is normal your Hb figures could still be normal. That is why doctors ask for b12 and ferritin test along with Hb test if you complain of dizziness and blackouts.
So the question is , is you nails the only problem or do you other problems as well. Are you a regular meat eater or mostly vegetarian. If you are a vegetarian and combine it that with the adenomyosis ( I am assuming your ultrasound shows you have a bulky uterus and you suffer from heavy periods) then you might have low b12 or b12 deficiency.
If your diet is okay but you have flooding/ heavy periods then it could be low ferritin reserves or low iron.
Either of these issues can cause flaky nails.
If you do have heavy periods then ask your GP to comment on your borderline results and ways to correct them.
If your GP is not interested then buy some supplements on your own. Start with b12 from Holland and Barrett and see how it goes or you can take floradix multi b and iron.

Thanks for your reply. My B12 seems to be ok - it's 795 (normal range seemed to be 160-925). Ferritin levels were 73 - which I think is normal. I'm 46, so pre menopausal. but I do think I have high oestrogen levels, which I'd like to try and sort out too. My other symptoms are tiredness, pale skin, moody and angry! and brain fog, which goes up and down through the month. I will look at the floradix. I also have ulcerative colitis, so can't really take the iron tablets as it messes with my digestion! Thanks very much.
