Recurrent ear infection prevention?!

Hello!
I've had ear infections 3 times this year (and I think for much longer earlier at the start of the year before was first diagnosed) antibiotics work and then 1-2 weeks later it comes back. Last course was finished 3 weeks ago. Started having symptoms last week and went to the gp he said this time there is no infection (thankfully) but I'm worried it will come back again as I'm still having ear pain & fluid/popping sounds/things sound distant sometimes. I want to avoid it coming back obviously & im pregnant now so I want to avoid antiobiotics!
Basically has anyone else suffered with recurrent ear infections and anything you can do to prevent it? Thank you for any advice x

Yes, I had this for years. The prescribed antibiotics always treated the symptoms but never the cause. Hopefully you were swabbed for the right antibiotic? Even when known i had the right antibiotic, infection still came back. I was fed up!
Final relief came when I was referred to an ENT clinic, who treated the infection at the time by depositing 'something' deep in my ear canal which dissolved over the day. Then essentially I have my ears cleaned out every 6 months at the same clinic. This has been ongoing for approx 8 years now. Not had any recurrent ear infections since.
If your infections are recurrent, I'd push for a referral to an ENT clinic.
