Anxiety or covid?

I've been struggling quite a lot with anxiety on and off recently but it seems to have subsided a bit. I'm still waking up with heart palpitations but I seem to feel better as the day goes on.

Last night I started getting chest pains that then spread into the top of my back and today I've woken up with the same thing making me a bit breathless with a funny taste in my throat which is impacting my taste and my mouth feels funny. I'm only 28 and no prior heart issues.

My friend thinks these are covid symptoms, I think could be anxiety related although I felt completely calm when the chest pain started last night.

Any advice?

It could be acid reflux. Try taking some tums or mylanta and see if it helps.

Also, for the anxiety, have you tried getting a prescription for beta blockers? And/or having some counselling?

I was also going to suggest acid reflux. I get an odd taste in my mouth.
My dad was scared he was having a mini heart attack the other day and the GP said it was also acid reflux (he already gets it but it had worsened)

It could be a bit of a mix of two things and if you are already getting anxiety this can trigger things like excess acid. I hope you feel better soon!

I agree with the others it could be signs of anxiety but you may also have some reflux. Have a chat with a pharmacist and see what the say.

Get a test. It could well be anxiety but you need to rule out Covid and self isolate along with your household until you do.

My anxiety and constant feeling of exhaustion is limiting my appetite, could that contribute to acid reflux?

I'm currently trying online CBT but I'm debating paying for CBT sessions face to face.

Don't underestimate the impact that anxiety can have on our body so yeah it could. It's worth getting a proper check up though. It's so hard when there's lots going on and you have anxiety to work out if you are actually 'ill'. Another issue I've found is a tendency of GPs to dismiss you if you have a history of anxiety so don't be afraid to push to be taken seriously.

Equally, the chest stuff could be covid.

Do get your thyroid levels checked properly (antibody as well as TSH and T3) If your thyroid levels are out of whack it can drive arrhythmia as well as exhaustion and emotional variability
