Think I have shingles

On Friday evening I showered and when I was towel drying myself, underneath my right breast and around the side of the breast it was so painful to the touch. The breast isn't hot and can't feel any obvious lumps.
Since Friday it has got worse, little red blood blisters and so so painful. I didn't sleep a wink last night with the pain. Does this sound like shingles? Anyone had this before?

My GP offered me amitriptyline for the pain, she said it targets nerve pain. It you are still in pain in a couple of days I'd phone back.
She also said co codamol was the best otc painkiller to take.
I've just taken my first anti viral Smile

When I had shingles, I alternated/staggered the two painkillers I was taking, so I was having pain relief every two hours (up to the maximum daily). That seemed to help keep the pain down somewhat, though it might have been psychological as well.

Mine never blistered, by the way, just remained an angry red and very painful for about a week.

If you can cope with broken sleep/or are awake anyway, try and take a tablet in the early hours so you are spacing the doses out more evenly

@MellowMelly when you had your second bout what was it like? I had shingles 4 weeks ago and it was very sore (photos up thread). The rash has basically gone but I still had some occasional pain. Then this morning it’s much more painful again and I’ve noticed two new spots in the same place. Do you think this could be it coming back?

MellowMelly · 16/11/2020 14:28

@Turnedouttoes
Yes it could be. I got new spots around the first cluster that was healing as I believe it hadn’t fully healed and gone dormant so the infected nerve flared up again.

I would get onto your GP and get some antivirals before it really flares up.

Ahh that would make sense. Thanks, I’ll make an appointment now
