Feeling worse after antibiotics?

Hello all,

Wonder if someone can help...I have had an ear infection on and off all year, a month ago I had a strong dose of erythromycin which seemed to actually clear it. Went to doctors on Friday, he said a lot of mucous in my ears, gave me Clarithromycin for a week. I felt dizzy after the first dose but after 2 days I started feeling better. I'm now on day 5 and feel horrendous. I didn't have a fever before it was 37.3 constantly now gone up to 38, sweating and feel so hot with heart palpitations. So I don't know if it's the antibiotics or they're just not working and my ear infection has got worse. Should I stop taking them and ask for something else, or could it take til the end of the course? Had a bad stomach today too :( thank you for reading this far x

I think you're probably ill with something else. A fever would be an unusual reaction to an AB.

Can you get back into the doctor's office to have it all evaluated?

Thank you for your reply! Well I called 111 and they told me to go to A&E because of the palpitations & I had abit of chest pain too. All tests came back clear but did say my heart rate was slightly elevated. My white blood cell count was normal & she checked my ear and said the infection had gone. She said it was likely to be the clarythromycin as people can get palpitations and feel 'weird' on which I really did. I can't explain the fever though, but I was feeling much more normal today thank goodness
