Little lump on my stomach...

I have noticed a little lump on my stomach, a couple of inches from my belly button and up a little bit on my lh side.

I'm overweight, and it is on my stomach fat (bleugh). It's quite firm. And a bit tender in the general area. I don't think it's a boil. I noticed the discomfort a couple of weeks ago, and the little lump about the same time.

I can't get to the GP till Tuesday, if I can get an appointment.

I'm freaking myself out. Anyone got any thoughts? I think it feels like a lymph node, but I'm amazed that I'd be able to feel it through the layer of tummy fat.

Inguinal hernia?

lazymum99 · 18/10/2020 20:00

Sorry I mean the other type. Umbilical hernia.

Miljea · 18/10/2020 20:11

You don't have lymph nodes there. It's a tiny hernia, or a lipoma. It isn't cancer.

SingingSands · 18/10/2020 20:14

It could be a lipoma - a fatty lump that grows under the skin. They are harmless, and can be easily removed.

I also have a lump an inch or so above my belly button - It is apparently a lipoma and nothing to worry about. I’ve not had it scanned to confirm. It’s been there a year or two, hasn’t grown (since I first noticed it) and doesn’t bother me at all. If it’s near the surface it should not be anything serious afaik

replies. Really reassuring replies too.

Should I get it checked out? Would it be a waste of a doctors time with everything going on?
