I've got back pain, keep feeling the urge to go to the loo then nothing comes out. I'm working nights so my mum has collected my prescription following a gp phone appointment this morning and I'm confused about what I've been given.

The gp told me it was a 3 day course of antibiotics.

What I've been given is two lots of antibiotics, one the aforementioned 3 day course, one a 7 day course, and also some cream.
I'm so confused as to why this is?

Have they made a mistake do you think?

Should I take both lots, or ask to speak to a doctor again?

What is the cream for?

Thanks Smile

Unless you have a history of recurrent infections that's really odd. I would check the name on the medicationn...incase you've had someone else's given to you. Then phone the pharmacy to double check they haven't made a mistake, then phone the surgery.

Could be the GP has phoned another patient but left your notes opened and prescribed from your notes instead. It can be done if you are interrupted and distracted but no you should only have the 3 day course.

Are they def all labelled to you. The 3 day course is normally Nitrofuratonin. 7 days tend to be penicillin based or sometimes trimethoprim.

No idea on cream. I think you'll need to call back.

I get recurrent water infections which sometimes go to my kidneys. I’ve never been given more than one antibiotic at a time, sometimes I get something different after the first course if it’s not improving but never have I been given a cream Confused. What are the names of the medications they’ve given you?

Thanks all sorry for late replies.
It was a mistake! They gave me two boxes of medicines that weren't required. So annoying. And costly. And dangerous had I just taken them all. I'm going to take them back today after work.
