Carbuncle left ugly scar, what can I do?

I few months ago I had a huge carbuncle on my back and its left a huge and very ugly scar. The carbuncle was very deep and left a deep hole in my back when all the pus had drained out of it. The hole was so deep that it had to be packed by the nurse and dressed a couple of times per week. The hole has closed now but I'm left with a horrible deep purple scar. It's been this way for about 4 months. When in the shower I always blast it was hot water hoping that might help heal it but nothing seems to be working. Anyone else had similar? I thinking of getting bio oil but not sure if that's just for stretch marks x

Bio oil is meant to be good for scars as well as stretch marks.

Blasting hot water at your scar is only going to irritate it more.

Moisturiser is your friend here and time.

Once you're fully healed (12 months plus) you could consider some sort of lazer/derma roller treatment to regenerate the skin. But it's very early days yet.

4 months is very early days. The colour will settle eventually but you are talking a long long time.

DH had similar - he has a wonky dent in his back still and a pale scar but the surrounding area is a normal colour but it was really years for it to sort itself out.
