Big blob of ear wax

DS (14 months) has a big blob of wax in his ear canal. It's been there for several weeks and seems to be almost entirely blocking the hole. It's too far in to be fished out with a finger, and obviously I'm not going to go poking around with a cotton bud.

Will it fall out? I mentioned it to our GP the other day and she said not to worry.

I thought that ear drops which are just oil were recommended for lossening ear wax

warm a drop of olive oil in your hand and drizzle into the ear (a very small amount) will loosen it to come out.

You can get ear wax out with olive oil.

You need a dropper pipette, pop a bit in, close the lobe over teh hole and give it a firm wiggle (description is not great on this).
Then sleep on that side (for an older child) and it will slide/drain out.

TBH if it isn't bothering him I wouldn't do anything about it.

Thank you, O wise MNers I knew you would have the answers.
