Sore lips - alternatives to Blistex?

I've used Blistex Relief Cream religiously for the past 10 years probably, and my supply has ran out. The company has gone under and the stock is gone.

I've tried a few different things, but nothing is really working. The issue is that my lips aren't just dry or cracked, I chew them constantly. It's a habit like nail biting. I pick at them and chew at them until there are big chunks missing, so I need something that can actually repair them rather than just keep them hydrated. That's why the Blistex was so good, and nothing else so far has worked.

Does anyone else have a similar problem and can recommend me something else I can use?

I use Dr Paw Paw- you can get it online or in some chemists if they're fancy. Also a lip nibbler.

courseaction · 26/09/2020 17:31

Second paw paw. Lucas papaw from Australia. You can get it on amazon. I developed an allergy to both blistex and Carmex, and this was recommended. It's fab

I'll look that up - thank you! Glad to see I'm not alone as a lip nibbler. I hate that I do it but it's been a lifelong habit 🙄

I am shocked at that news ... I love that stuff.

I have seen Paw paw in home bargains. I also like Burt bees and tesco medicated lip balm.

fallfallfall · 26/09/2020 17:42

my go to is Carmex.

frustrationcentral · 26/09/2020 17:51

Paw Paw is good, and as a PP said you can normally get them in Home Bargains

Okeafes lip repair is fab

Beve123 · 12/02/2021 23:11

Hi, I know exactly what you mean! I'm terrible for chewing them too and blistex was amazing. I'd slather it on at night and new lips the next morning and slightly plumped them. I have tried everything and to be honest nothing compares. The closest I have found is O'Keeffes lip repair and protect lip balm stick with SPF 15. I've tried the overnight repair but found this works just as well. Burt's bees are apparently very good for moisture too, but nothing really beats blistex for us biters. I just hope they bring it back out.

None of the suggestions have worked for me 😢 following to see any further suggestions

Eos lip balms have really helped me. They're in an egg shape container, different "flavours" don't need to apply as much as anything else I've used.

Also Clinique used to do a moisturising lip gel type thing but not sure they still do it. That was brilliant.

LunaHeather · 12/02/2021 23:26

Oh, has it gone under? But I see their other products?

I too am seeking a replacement for Blistex Relief Cream which I think was called Blisteze before.

O'Keefe and Carmex are completely different.

CausingChaos2 · 12/02/2021 23:30

Nuxe is good. Have also used lansinoh nipple cream.

zeddybrek · 12/02/2021 23:30

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. Just the regular tube although I think you can buy it in a stick but what works out more expensive.

RiverSkater · 12/02/2021 23:31

My lips were dry and cracking and I was nibbling too this week, I put some neutrogena hand cream on them, the original unscented and within hours they were transformed!

MojoJojo71 · 12/02/2021 23:52

Lansinoh nipple cream is fantastic for cracked and sore lips

mum2bin2021 · 12/02/2021 23:55

Lanege lip mask is a game changer. My sister and I used to swear by blistex and that's the only thing that's touched the sides since. It's hard to get hold of but totally worth it. I've tried all of the suggestions made so far and none of them compare (to me anyways)

FrankiesKnuckle · 13/02/2021 00:26

Second nuxe.
I chew my lips then pick plus have the added bonus of sensitive skin.
I've been using the nuxe balm for a couple of weeks now and my lips haven't looked as good in years.

halfpasteleven · 13/02/2021 03:10

Vaseline lip balm is v good

RainBow725 · 13/02/2021 12:01

Hopefully the Blistex Relief Cream will come back some point - this is from their FB page. Some of their other products are available on Amazon but they are not as good.

I just came on here to say had been discussing this with OH and he says Cymex has the same ingredients as Blistex

Good to know it's not discontinued though

selseyboy · 01/10/2021 07:19

ASEAskeptic · 01/10/2021 07:24

Lansinoh (lanolin) nipple ointment. Smells bad, works better than anything else I've tried
