I have name changed.

I am probably overthinking and it may be something so small, but recently I have had a change in my right breast. I've attached pictures as it has got worse over the last week. A close relative on my mothers side has had breast cancer in the past so that is what's lingering in the back of my head.

There is severe discomfort around the areola and nipple itself. There is a significant difference between both sides, the other side is absolutely fine. Can anyone shed any light?

First picture was Tuesday evening, second was yesterday morning and third is this morning with the flash on.

Your nipple looks dry

Are you breast feeding? Is that a breast pad?

shesellsseashells99 · 26/09/2020 11:54

It most probably something innocent but you must go to your GP. You will be seen within two weeks, has it been a sudden change? X

shesellsseashells99 · 26/09/2020 11:55

Ps. Thinking of you as I know it can be a worrying time, I've had several lumps and biopsies. X

Yes I'm breastfeeding, 7 months in. I moisturise daily and always have done.

Yes it started Monday when I was uncomfortable feeding, I had a shooting pain in my nipple and then noticed the fact the whole breast looked different. It's not mastitis as I have had this and definitely not thrush as my daughter is ok, no symptoms x

Thank you so much. It could well be something really small but it's always the worry in the back of your head isn't it? Sad

Have you tried a nipple balm?

Can you use E consult for the GP qnd upload the photos and then they can call you? They will refer you to be seen within two weeks

It looks to me like your nipple is irritated. My nipples became irritated when I was feeding sometimes

Do you have any symptoms of thrush in your breast?

Yes I use Lansinoh. I will definitely give a call Monday. They're a really good GP and have daily appointments so (hopefully) will be seen straight away!

I had a duct blocked by a lump of calcium which looked just like that.

I hand expressed in the bath yesterday to massage any issues out - just in case! I will try again tonight

Honestly, if you are breastfeeding it is much more likely to be related to that than cancer, especially as it is painful. It could be mastitis. I got mastitis when DD was over a Yr old. You need to see your gp either way

I will give a call Monday, definitely! I just wanted someone to reassure me that I was being silly and overthinking. I have had mastitis in this breast a couple months ago.

I would say if you have had mastitis in that breast then it makes it even more likely it is that again.

I hope you can get some peace of mind on Monday
